Harvest Homes is a program designed to provide homeless families with shelter while promoting self-sufficiency and giving them hope for a safer, healthier future. We operate nine remote residential apartments specifically designated for Harvest Homes. All nine apartments are located in Westerly. Participating adults are provided with a range of services designed to help them become fully independent, including vocation counseling; basic skills training, including cooking and food shopping classes; and financial education.
Harvest Homes History
- Created by Westerly residents concerned about homeless children.
- Began with two apartments in December 2005, our newest unit brings the number to nine homeless families served in the program.
- Over 80% of our families have moved on to independently secure apartments on their own.
A Harvest Homes Journey
"Last June, my children and I became homeless. I was scared, humiliated, embarrassed, and felt less than a person, as I had failed to provide for my children. We were homeless for a month or two, when WARM took us into the Harvest Homes program. We were placed in an apartment, a place we could call "home" for awhile. It was such a blessing. However, the blessings did not stop there. We were provided a case manager named Laura to help us, to provide support and guide us to make the most out of this opportunity we were given. And that is what Laura did- provide us support, and just as important she made me feel like a worthy person." --"Miss C"
